The Truth About Most Ad Accounts

Most advertisers are losing money — and no one's telling them

These are the patterns I see every time I audit a new account.

Broad targeting that burns budget

Campaigns built to "get started" quickly without meaningful audience research. The algorithm spends your money on the cheapest clicks, not your best customers.

"Set and forget" management

Monthly retainers paid to agencies that log in once a week, rotate one creative, and send a PDF. You're paying for access, not optimization.

Broken or missing tracking

Half the accounts I audit have Pixel firing incorrectly, CAPI not implemented, or offline conversions not imported. The data you're optimizing on isn't real.

Reports that hide what matters

Impressions, clicks, and CTR don't pay bills. If your monthly report doesn't tell you revenue, ROAS, or cost per acquisition — it's marketing, not accountability.

What Changes When We Work Together

Senior-level media buying, systemized

I don't take on accounts I can't produce returns on. Here's what every engagement includes.

Goals tied to revenue, not vanity

Every campaign starts with a single number: the ROI or CPA that makes the business work. Everything else — bids, creative, audiences — serves that number.

Weekly hands-on optimization

Not "check in monthly." Every week I'm in your account: reviewing performance, pruning what's not working, scaling what is, and testing the next hypothesis.

Clean, honest tracking

Proper Pixel + CAPI, GA4 configured correctly, offline conversions imported where relevant, and dashboards that show you what's actually driving your pipeline.

A media buyer you can talk to

I'm your point of contact. Not an account manager. Not a junior. You message me directly, and I know your numbers cold.

Reports you'll actually read

Three numbers that matter, a sentence on what moved, a sentence on what's next. You'll understand your account's health in three minutes.

Fixed fee. No lock-in.

Flat monthly pricing so you know your cost ahead of time. Month-to-month with 30 days' notice. I keep you because the work works.

About

A decade of performance marketing, applied to your account

I'm Bilal Shaheen — a digital marketer and founder with over ten years of hands-on experience running paid campaigns across Meta and Google. Before launching my own agency, I held a Senior Digital Sales Manager role at one of Pakistan's most established media publishers, and I built a mobile gaming startup that taught me how unforgiving the paid acquisition game is when you're the one footing the ad bill.

I studied Brands & Communications Management at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark and took MBA electives at George Washington University in the US. My background is equal parts strategy and execution — I can sit with a founder and size up their positioning, then walk into Ads Manager the same afternoon and rebuild their campaigns from scratch.

Over the last decade, I've worked across education, real estate, food & beverage, NGOs, FMCG, and luxury — in Pakistan and internationally. That industry range matters: it means I've seen what actually drives conversions for service businesses with long buying cycles, for e-commerce brands fighting rising CPMs, and for high-ticket professionals where one client is worth thousands.

Today, I lead a small, specialized team serving clients across the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. Our cost structure lets us offer senior-level media buying at prices that make sense for growing businesses — without ever compromising on the quality of the work.

The Process

How we go from first call to first dollar returned

Simple, transparent, and built so you always know what happens next.

01

Discovery Call

A 30-minute call to understand your business, your goals, and your current marketing. No pitch. I just want to know if we're a fit.

02

Free Ad Audit

If you have existing ad accounts, I review them for structural issues, targeting gaps, creative fatigue, and tracking problems. Written breakdown in 48 hours — yours to keep whether or not we work together.

03

Custom Proposal

Based on the audit, I put together a scoped proposal: platform, recommended budget, expected timeline, monthly deliverables, and fee. No obligation.

04

Onboarding (Week 1)

We get access to your accounts, set up proper tracking (Pixel, CAPI, GA4, offline conversions), align on KPIs, and build the first month's testing plan together.

05

Launch (Weeks 2–3)

Campaign structure, audiences, creative direction, copy, landing pages. I build or rebuild what's needed and we go live with clear hypotheses and measurement in place.

06

Optimize & Report

Weekly optimization cycles, creative rotation, and bid management. One clear dashboard you can read anytime, plus a monthly strategy call.

Case Studies

Five accounts. Five very different problems.

A snapshot of the kinds of engagements I run — across local services, info products, e-commerce, and professional firms.

Dental · Local Lead Gen

Multi-location dental practice, Texas

Challenge

Inconsistent lead flow across three offices. Cost per booked appointment had been climbing for 8 months straight on Google Ads and Meta was producing clicks but no calls.

What I Did

Rebuilt Google Search with tight keyword themes, added 400+ negative keywords, implemented call tracking and offline conversion imports. Launched Meta retargeting plus geofenced lookalike campaigns around competitor offices.

Business Coach · Info Product

Online coach scaling a group program

Challenge

Meta ads were profitable at $5K/month but couldn't scale past that. Cost per application spiked every time spend increased. Creative testing was inconsistent and tracking was incomplete.

What I Did

Full funnel redesign: moved from lead magnet to direct-to-call application. Built a structured creative testing framework (3 angles × 4 hooks weekly) and implemented CAPI + server-side tracking.

E-Commerce · DTC Supplements

Supplement brand recovering post-iOS 14

Challenge

Attribution destroyed after iOS 14. Reported ROAS had dropped from 3.2× to 1.1× even though actual revenue was stable. Creative fatigue had set in and CPMs were climbing.

What I Did

Rebuilt Meta CAPI with first-party data layer, integrated with Shopify for deduplicated conversions. Launched a weekly creative refresh cadence (UGC + static + short-form video) and restructured campaigns for iOS reality.

Real Estate · High-Ticket Local

Residential real estate broker, Toronto

Challenge

Client was paying Zillow for leads that converted poorly and couldn't be retargeted. Needed owned seller leads and a pipeline they could nurture beyond a single platform.

What I Did

Built a Google Search campaign targeting high-intent seller queries ("sell my home Toronto", "home value [neighborhood]"). Paired with Meta lookalikes built off past buyers and a "what's my home worth" landing page with automated valuation.

Law Firm · Personal Injury

Boutique personal injury firm, Florida

Challenge

Competing with massive state-wide firms on broad Google Ads terms and losing. CPL for "personal injury lawyer" had climbed above $400 and case signups had dropped 30% year over year.

What I Did

Niched down the campaign to three specific accident types with high margins. Built long-tail Search campaigns around those verticals, added call extensions and tracked call quality, then ran Meta retargeting for site visitors with testimonial creative.

What Clients Say

Direct feedback from the people paying the bills

Bilal is the first media buyer who actually explained our numbers in language we understood. Inside 60 days our cost per appointment dropped by more than half. We haven't looked back.

We'd worked with three agencies before Bilal. The difference is accountability. He sends a weekly note with what he changed and why — and the results show up in the revenue dashboard, not just the ad report.

Straightforward, data-driven, and a pleasure to work with. He didn't try to upsell me on things I didn't need — he rebuilt what was broken and scaled what was working. That's rare.

FAQ

Answers to the questions that usually come up first

How long before I see results?
Most accounts see meaningful performance shifts inside the first 30–45 days. Structural improvements (tracking, account rebuild, creative refresh) show up in week 1–2. The compounding returns from creative testing and optimization typically hit in month 2–3.
What's the minimum ad spend you recommend?
For meaningful data velocity, I recommend at least $2,000/month in ad spend — though the right number depends on your niche, price point, and target cost per acquisition. We'll discuss what makes sense for your business on the discovery call.
Do you require a long-term contract?
No. All engagements are month-to-month with 30 days' written notice. I'd rather keep you because the work is working than because you signed a year-long agreement.
Do you handle creative (video, images, copy)?
Ad copy is included in every package. For video and static creatives, I lead the direction and briefing — you can supply them yourself, have your in-house team execute, or I can project-manage a vetted creative partner for an additional fee.
What happens if the ads don't work?
No media buyer can guarantee ad performance — anyone who does is being dishonest. What I can guarantee is that your account is structured correctly, your tracking is clean, and every decision is data-driven. If after 90 days we aren't seeing movement, we sit down and look at the offer, the funnel, or whether paid is the right channel for you at all. I'd rather tell you the truth early than take a retainer indefinitely.
Which industries do you work with?
Coaches and course creators, dentists, orthodontists, lawyers, accountants, realtors, chiropractors, med spas, therapists, home service businesses, fitness studios, mortgage brokers, insurance agencies, e-commerce and DTC brands, and B2B consultants. If you're unsure whether your industry fits, book a call and we'll talk it through.
Where are you based? Does it matter?
I'm based in Pakistan and my team works across US, UK, Canadian, and Australian time zones. All communication is in English, meetings are scheduled flexibly around your working hours, and payments are handled in USD through Wise, Payoneer, or your preferred method.
What tools do you use?
Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, GA4, Looker Studio, Hotjar, Triple Whale (for e-commerce), and Notion for project management. Reporting is platform-agnostic — I'll build around what you already use if you have preferences.
